We organize events that will assist us to generate funds in order to create educational and cultural activities, to make donations in case of disasters in Latin countries around the world, and lastly to assist in maintaining our administration.
We invite both members and non-members to participate in all of our activities and events in order to enjoy and value the cultural richness of the Latin community.
If you're a business or individual willing to sponsor
or host an event by donating a venue rental, food, and/or
entertainment please let us know. It's a great way to draw in new
customers and get exposure for your business while also helping out
the community centre! We are looking in particular for restaurants
or clubs to host monthly karaoke and/or dance parties for us.

Miss Chiquitita 2011 Pageant
When: Saturday, September 17th from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. (may sign in starting at 10:30 a.m.)
Where: Kozlov Centre - Centre Court, 400 Bayfield Street, Barrie
What: Join us in our first pageant to crown "Miss Chiquitita!" There will be two categories: Junior for girls ages 4-6 and Senior for girls ages 7-10. Girls will be competing in a fun setting in casual wear, formal wear, and talent categories. They will be judged by a panel consisting of entertainment and talent professionals, with lively music and of course fabulous prizes!
Not a glitz pageant This event is designed to let girls show their own style, natural beauty, and personality while modeling the casual or formal dress of their choice. Although the judges do look for certain fashion trends, girls should wear a color and style according to their ages and that makes them feel good. Each contestant will gracefully model her dressy wear while upbeat music is played in the background and the MC reads each girl’s profile. The KEY to this event is to exude the girl’s inner beauty and personality. Please remember “Less is more.”
Talent Contest This provides an additional opportunity to showcase your girl’s talents, perform in front of an audience, gain confidence, and win fabulous prizes. Singers, Dancers, Musicians, Actors - whatever talent your little girl has, we want to see it. The length of the performance for the Talent Contest won’t exceed 3 minutes per girl.
Cost: $15 entry fee per child participating
To register your child, please print out and complete the Entry Form and Participation Waiver & Release below.

1) Emailing back the completed forms to info@barrielatincommunity.com and submitting payment via Paypal below (you don't need to set up an account) or

Concurso Miss Chiquitita 2011
Fecha: sabado, 17 de septiembre de 11 a.m. a 1 p.m. (pueden empezar a entrar a las 10:30 a.m. para prepararse)
Lugar: Kozlov Centre - Centre Court, 400 Bayfield Street, Barrie
Descripcion: Habran dos categorias: Junior para ninas de 4-6 anos y Senior para ninas de 7-10 anos. Las niñas tendran la oportunidad de demostrar su gracia y carisma en la pasarela en las categorias de traje casual y traje formal, asi como tambien su desempeño artistico durante la prueba de talento. Todo esto frente al jurado calificador que estara conformado por especialistas en el area del espectaculo y el entretenimiento. Tambien habra musica y la ganadora sera coronada al final de la ceremonia en la que tambien recibira numerosos premios por parte de los patrocinadores. Sera un evento inolvidable!
Este evento es para que las ninas demuestren su propio estilo, belleza natural, y personalidad mientras modelan un vestido casual o formal. Las ninas deben escojer colores y estilos a la moda conformes con sus edades y que las hagan sentir comodas y confidentes. Cada participante va a modelar su vestido mientras musica alegre es tocada y la MC lee el perfil de cada nina. Lo importante es que la belleza y personalidad natural de las ninas se demuestren. Acuerdense: "Menos es mas."
Los puntos se daran basados en confidencia, contacto de ojo, presencia en el escenario, y entusiasmo durante la competencia.
El segmento de talento dara una oportunidad adicional para que las ninas demuestren sus talentos al frente de una audiencia, para darle confidencia, y ganar fabulosos premios. Cantantes, bailarinas, actores - cualquier talento que su nina tenga, lo queremos ver! Cada nina tendra un maximo de 3 minutos para este segmento.
Costo: $15 por cada nina participando

Description: Come celebrate autumn with the BLCC! Join us for an evening of music, food, and great company at Wickie's Pub. There are even four pool tables! This is not an official Halloween party but since it is so close to Halloween you are welcome to come dressed up if you want to! We need 40 people minimum to get the room all to ourselves so please RSVP ASAP (even if we don't reach the minimum we are still going ahead, just that the room will remain open to the general public).

Description: Join your friends from the BLCC for a fun-filled trip to Niagara Falls! Transportation will be provided by Transpal Charters on a 55-person capacity bus. Pickup will be at 8:00 a.m. at the Essa carpool lot in Barrie. The bus will drop you off at Casino Niagara from where you are free to spend the day doing whatever you choose. Pickup in Niagara Falls will be at 4:00 p.m. at Casino Niagara.

What: One of our sponsors - and local Chilean State Farm Agent - Odette Novielli invites you for an afternoon of coffee and good conversation where she will be speaking on a variety of topics relating to insurance and financial services. Odette wants to educate the public on auto, home, life, disability, critical illness, and business insurance - how they work, what people need, what each one covers, and what they should look for when shopping around. She strongly feels that everyone needs to understand what coverages they have and more importantly where your money is going and how to save it. Description: Join your friends from the BLCC for a fun-filled trip to Niagara Falls! Transportation will be provided by Transpal Charters on a 55-person capacity bus. The bus is fully climate controlled and there will be beverages as well as movies and entertainment on board. Pickup will be at 8:00 a.m. at the Essa carpool lot in Barrie. The bus will drop you off at Casino Niagara from where you are free to spend the day doing whatever you choose. Pickup in Niagara Falls will be at 4:00 p.m. at Casino Niagara.

The MacLarenArtCentre is extending an invitation to youth ages 13 and older to participate in a special Saturday workshop with exhibiting artists of the Z’otz* Collective, comprising artists Ilyana Martinez, Nahúm Flores and Erik Jerezano. In conjunction with their exhibit, Hourglass Continent, on view at the MacLaren this spring, youth will have the opportunity to work collaboratively with these artists, exploring elements of narrative through cultural symbols and personal experience.
To offer a unique art-making, mentorship, and exhibition opportunity, ten of twenty spots in this workshop will be reserved for young members of Barrie’s Hispanic-Canadian community. Please have the interested youth call Christina Mancuso, Education Officer at the MacLaren Art Centre, to complete registration. They must state the organization (i.e. BLCC) as a referral.
